Seasons of Boothbay Harbor

There is always something to celebrate in the Boothbay Harbor Region!

If you are looking for a truly unforgettable experience with a unique local flair, plan on being a part of one of the many festivals and celebrations that happen throughout the Boothbay Harbor Region. No matter what the season, there is always something going on and a fun reason to celebrate.

Stop by in the spring for the Fishermen’s Festival, which honors the hard work of the fishing fleet and celebrates the arrival of spring. Watch local residents run through the streets in a cod fish relay or take part in a lobster eating contest or an old fashioned fish fry. Help us kick off the summer season during Windjammer Days, a week-long event that celebrates the maritime heritage and history of this area. Enjoy a street parade, antique boat parade, pancake breakfast, fireworks, entertainment, and of course the majesty of the Windjammers themselves as they sail into the harbor in the much-anticipated Parade of Sail. Harbor Fest keeps the fun going into the fall with ten days of events, including a unique Fishin’ for Fashion Show, Harbor Crawl, a 5k and Half Marathon, live music marathon, and so much more. Visit the Boothbay Railway Village in October for the Fall Foliage Festival, where local crafters, food vendors, and musicians gather to appreciate the beauty of the changing leaves and the changing seasons.  Bargain hunters will love the Early Bird Sale in November, when merchants offer deep discounts for those who shop early. Show up in your pajamas for even more savings! Kick off the holiday season with the Harbor Lights Festival, where the harbor is transformed into a holiday wonderland. Welcome Santa as he arrives by boat, take a horse drawn carriage ride through the streets of downtown, visit the Festival of Trees, and watch the lighted boat parade as local captains deck their hulls to parade around the inner harbor. No matter when you visit, there is always something happening to make your visit a truly memorable one!
